Improve Your Money Mindset To Make More Money
Starting to work on your money mindset it's one of the best choices you can make if you want to achieve financial freedom because your mindset dictates how your life will unfold. Your money mindset is your unique set of beliefs, usually subconscious, and your attitude about money. It drives the decisions you make about spending, saving and handling money.
If you want to become financially free, it is not enough to work harder and longer, of course, it will help you a lot to achieve the wealth you dream of, but at the same time, you will have to pay attention to your mind and find out if you have any thoughts patterns about money. Even if you want to make money or not, knowing yourself is a huge factor in creating a meaningful change. As the American radio host, Dave Ramsey said that personal finance is 20% head knowledge and 80% behavior, you will have to become more present at the moment and pay attention to your beliefs and if you discover any pattern that might keep you from making more money you will have to rewrite that habit with a new one.
How To Improve Your Money Mindset
The first step to improve your money mindset is to understand your current mindset because if you want to change it, you will have to know the place where you started.
1. Be more present at the moment
If you really want to improve your money mindset, then you will have to start with awareness, you will have to pay attention to your thoughts, actions, and beliefs about money because all these are connected. Your thoughts about money will influence your feelings, and your feelings affect your behavior. When it comes to money there are two big beliefs that the majority of people make decisions on:
- Scarcity/Lack: this type of belief is used by those people who think that money is a scarce commodity. If you are the type of person who has this belief, you will feel stressed and anxious when it comes to money because you will always think that money won't be enough for you, doesn't matter what you are doing. This won't help you in the long run because you can miss a lot of opportunities or good investments.
- Wealth/Abundance: f you think that there is more than enough money to go around, you’ll feel calm, positive, and optimistic, this mindset will help you to generate even more money than you actaully earn, and also it will make you more generous and take chances with your money on new investments.
As you become more aware you will start to encounter your own limiting belief and money blocks that keep you from achieving the financial freedom you deserve. Money blocks and limiting beliefs keep reappearing in newer and different forms. You will have to continually uncover the blocks, dissolve them and release them so you can build a healthier and more confident relationship with your wealth.
Paying more attention to your money mindset in day-to-day life will help you understand why you act as you do and also it will help you to improve your money mindset by replacing and improving the limiting beliefs and money blocks you have.
2. Change your mindset by setting goals
Setting your goals is very important if you want to achieve financial freedom because this is what will guide you in those days when your motivation is very low. Being focus on your mission will give you the energy you need to accomplish everything you set out to do, it's very important to find the right focus for you. In order to find your mission, you will have to think about what you are passionate about, what you really enjoy doing, once you find the thing that makes you feel good, keep it in mind because the more excited and passionate about your goals the more powerful you will be.
Even if you don't want to set any financial goals, you have to understand that setting goals is very important because setting goals helps trigger new behaviors, helps guides your focus and helps you sustain that momentum in life, so next time when you really want to achieve something in your life, setting some goals will help you a lot.
3. Don't trade time for money
The third step to improve your money mindset is to stop trade your time for money, or as Tony Robbins said "If you work for a living, you're trading your time for money". He thinks that trading your time for money is one of the worst trades you can do because you always can get more money but you can't get more time, so this step is somehow linked to our number two from this list because if you find that thing that makes you enjoy what you do you won't feel like you are working.
"In the end, it doesn't matter how much money you earn. If you don't set aside some, you could lose it all. This is the first and most important step in putting yourself on the road to financial freedom. Take that step today." You don't have to quit your job today, but you can start saving money today. If you have a business idea you would like to start or you know what you like to do all day, then you have to start saving money now, the sooner you start the better.
4. Practice Gratitude
I am sure you hear about this a lot on blogs, Youtube videos even on social media, but did you started this practice? It seems it's a very powerful practice especially if you can add it to your morning routine. There are a lot of people who practice gratitude and there are a lot of benefits if you can practice it daily. Tony Robbins once said: "If you have nothing, but you're euphorically grateful for whatever you have, you're the richest person you're ever going to know.".
There are a lot more things you can do if you want to improve your money mindset but starting with these 4 tips will certainly help you a lot. First, you will get to know yourself better, and second, you will start to think like a wealthy person. Let me know your opinions in the comment section below.
